Something I've been thinking about during the Hubble mission...

In fiction, we emotionally respond to the struggle between good and evil. This works because in fiction, evil actually knows it's evil. By contrast, in the real word evil almost never knows it's evil, and instead believes it's simply making short-term sacrifices in the service of an eventual greater good.

In the real world, what we should look toward isn't the struggle between good and evil, but the struggle between the known and the unknown.
