Iraq's cabinet just approved a measure insisting our troops be completely withdrawn by December 31, 2011. Their cabinet spokesman added that this date is "specific and final" and "is not governed by circumstances on the ground." The Iraqi parliament is expected to formally ratify this measure by the end of this month.
During the presidential campaign, there was a lot of talk about how withdrawing from Iraq on any kind of timeline would be a military defeat.
Well, now we're being asked to leave by Iraq's elected government, which as far as I'm concerned should end any debate as to "defeat."
