Thank you, internet...

It turns out there IS a significant landmark only about a minute away from the Weyerhaeuser Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection: the largest church in Washington State.

The sanctuary alone seems the size of a Wal-mart (what you see here is just a hallway), and the "fun room" for the kids (which they feel the need to repeatedly spell "kidz") is like a mini arcade.

I remember when I was much younger, and the whole "megachurch" fad first hit: at the time I didn't form a good impression, since fairly or unfairly this trend seemed of a piece with folks like Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, who came across as pretty fake even for the time.

But it's unfair to judge a group, or even a trend, by the actions of a few. And, I admit I'm curious what the whole "megachurch" trend has evolved into during the 21st century.

I'm already here, and they're doing something at 7pm - I figure I might as well stay.
Thank you, internet...
