The Curtis Institute ping-pong table...

The Curtis Institute is where Marcel Tabuteau taught oboe, from the school's founding until his retirement. So, in a sense, the entire American style of oboe performance can be traced back here: if not to this ping-pong table, then to the institute in general.

To this day, no Curtis student pays tuition: the entire education is free of charge, and admission is entirely based on merit.

Ahhh, the life that might have been :)
