The difference between west Texas and east Texas is like night and day. While in the west the rural population seemed to have no visible means of support, farm/ranch land tended to a state of disrepair with collapsing buildings and abandoned vehicles, and the towns weren't faring much better, here the norm is well-kept land hosting actual working farms.

Also, the lack of dead deer on the road shoulders is a welcome change.
