I'm now in Roswell, New Mexico. The UFO capital of the world. On one of the days of their annual UFO Festival.
This is the world-famous UFO researcher Stanton Friedman. I figured that if he doesn't try to probe me then, barring an actual extraterrestrial arriving, nobody at this conference will. So, I thought I'd see his lecture first and basically get this issue out of the way. You know, face one's fear.
The art is at LEAST as good as at Norwescon :)
His facial expression is perhaps best described as "probetastic."
Mr. McDowell is the conference's guest of honor. His first question from the audience was about Star Trek.
Just so the timestamps don't seem confusing, I should probably say that I just finished the "Big Cave" tour: since there's obviously no cell coverage in the caves I couldn't post these in real time.
I don't know why, but looking at this stalagmite makes me feel powerful, as if I could do anything. I wish I could introduce it to one of Georgia O'Keeffe's flowers.
This is the worst I've been in, hands down. The National Weather Service has issued an advisory mentioning flooding, half-inch hail, and 50mph winds.
