The oldest public clock in North America

It's part of the Saint-Sulpice Seminary on the west side of Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica. This seminary is the oldest building in Montreal, and its clock was built in 1701.

While looking at it I found myself reminded of the novel Anathem.
