I attended Jack Benaroya's memorial service at Benaroya Hall this afternoon.
Benaroya Hall has been a great home for the Seattle Symphony, and without Mr. Benaroya's original seed donation this project might have stalled. But that's not why I really appreciate this guy.
Instead, what I appreciate is how his vision of modern industrial parks didn't just involve efficiency, but also orderliness and physical beauty, including integrated green spaces.
As a result, people who have no reason to even know this guy's name have more enjoyable working lives to this day.
