One of the old blast furnaces at the neighboring plant

Apparently this plant no longer begins with the raw materials, and instead just reprocesses scrap steel (mainly into the railroad tracks you see leaving the plant below, and seamless pipes for oil drilling). So, assuming I'm correct that these are blast furnaces, where the coal (as coke), iron ore, and limestone would have been originally combined, they've presumably been inactive for many years.
