Improvements currently in progress on each side of the pass meant that only one lane could be used at a time. The pilot vehicle driver was kind enough to give me a ride through the construction vehicles and torn up road surface on either side of the pass, which would have been otherwise unrideable.
This photograph was taken from the pilot vehicle as it descended on the far side of the pass.
